Common Materials Used for Decks

Decks are generally built on uneven grounds and sloping angles. Because they are elevated, decks may provide less privacy, but better views. For many homeowners, this is the a good choice depending on their needs. We can build you a custom deck made from:

Pressure Treated Wood

Most decks in Canada are made from pressure-treated wood due to its cost-effectiveness. This treatment offers long-lasting protection against decay and termites, making it ideal for outdoor use.

Pressure-treated wood decks can last up to 40 years with proper care. Once your deck has dried, we apply a clear sealant to prevent splintering and discoloration from moisture.

Western Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar is often used for decks. It's naturally decay- and insect-resistant due to its oil preservative. Known for its beauty, it is a great choice for decks and fences. While lighter and easier to handle than pressure-treated wood, it generally comes at a higher cost.

Composite Faux Wood Planks

Composite decking combines natural wood fibers with durable resin to mimic real wood without the need for painting or staining. Unlike traditional wood, it won't splinter, crack, warp, or rot. Composite decking can feature realistic wood-grain patterns and comes in various colors.

There are other materials, too. Contact us for more information.
